We will have MangaSTART lessons, how to draw expressions, chibis and specific characters. You can learn about the professional world of comic book and children's book publishing and more. Bring your art portfolio so the Editor-In-Chief from Slave Labor Graphics can review it.

Summer Manga Start Classes

" Manga Start!" - Want to draw your favorite characters or your own manga (comic) story? Take classes with local Bay Area Anime Artist, Ian Sy, and learn the foundations and techniques for bringing your dreams to life! Manga Start classes will include constructive critique, live art demonstrations, art concept lessons, drawing time, and Q&A. Each class will also focus on a core concept that will unite the artists' efforts towards a final personal creation.

Students are encouraged to bring their existing work and favorite pictures and comics, to extend their interests into drawing! Drawing is a great way to train creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills. Architects, graphic designers, computer animators and many professionals all use drawing as a tool in their jobs!
