In addition to the fine arts of drawing, painting and sculpture (the primary focus of Teach Me Art’s fall through spring programs), her background includes expertise in textile design and multicultural crafts. Jen - Juror 2

Once upon a time there was a girl who drew a comic. The comic was about her friend who was the second juror assigned for a mock trial in high school. In the comic, the friend stole the teacher's gavel and served bloody justice to all the popular people who made our lives miserable.

...and then high school ended and I went to Johnson & Wales for Hotel Restaurant Management and then to the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. I am a certified chef. I worship my cat. I have no feeling in my left thumb. And what I draw is 80% random thoughts in my head and 20% movies, books, and tv.

Pompsicle

Pompsicle is a weekly alternative clothed figure drawing session in Sacramento, CA. Artists of all experience levels and backgrounds take part in Pompsicle. It's fun. We draw (or paint) from a different live model each week. Some are super cool "real life characters" like goths, punks, beauty queens, club kids, roller girls, and cowboys. Or our model may be some one who has a lot of great costumes in their closet and wants to show them off.

Pompsicle is all about having the chance to practice drawing the clothed figure. I also bring up a "Drawing Tidbit" each week. Just a little something to get our artists thinking about an aspect of drawing they may not have heard before, or to serve as a refresher for more experienced artists.

Alfred Twu & BAAU (Bay Area Artists Unite)

Alfred lives in Berkeley and can answer all your questions about BAAU (Bay Area Artists Unite), where he is one of the leading members, managing the business side of BAAU's collective comic anthology, as well as planning BAAU's convention appearances.

Bay Area Artists Unite (BAAU) was born at the dawn of the Internet when several artists meeting online realized they all lived in the Bay Area. Today, BAAU continues to help artists make connections and collaborations, with the annual publication of the BAAU Down comic’s anthology, collective tables at conventions, and monthly meetings in San Jose, Berkeley, and San Francisco.

Ben Walker

Ben Walker is a full-time artist and illustrator in Sacramento, California. His tongue-in-cheek paintings of bears with guns, singing cowboys, flying machine operators, and other odd inhabitants of "The Old West" have lassoed the attention of art lovers in California and beyond.

He recently released his first picture book Portraits & Tales from Remington Ridge. Walker is also the creator and director of an alternative life drawing studio called Pompsicle. Artists gather every week at Pompsicle to draw from costumed models and "real life characters" like punks, roller-girls, and break dancers. Walker is a graduate of The Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
